“The Regent’s Gamble” by A Payne & ND Taylor… What can I say? This is one of the best paranormal books I’ve ever read! I loved everything about it. The book starts out with a kick-butt scene involving Addison, the main character, versus some very scary entities. I knew from that beginning that it would be one hell of a ride in a unique world of magic.
Throughout the book, I loved the rich description and the pictures the authors painted for readers. I could visualize each of the creatures as if they were standing right there, and that makes them even scarier. Addison is an incredible and mysterious hero that I loved reading about. The chemistry between Saraia and Addison was wonderfully built and I kept rooting for them to get together, which is what I want to feel when it comes to romance in a book. The scenery was rich as well, characters full of depth (loved Noah!), and the book was incredibly well-written. I felt as if this world could truly exist and I think that’s the most important thing for a writer to accomplish.
More than that, this book was written by two authors, but the writing was so seamless and cohesive that I couldn’t tell that two people worked on the book. I never felt jarred out of place by anything, which is huge kudos to this author duo. I can see why they write together and hopefully they won’t ever stop!
I do have to mention the new cover, as well. I really liked the old cover, but when I first saw that the cover had changed, I fell in love with it. It was a smart decision on the part of the authors to make a switch!
I have Primal Legacy on my TBR and I cannot wait to dive into it!
