“The Kings of Cantium” (the first book in a fantasy novella series) tells the story of young Isa, a girl coming into her own during the Iron Age. She lives in the land of June, and the book starts with an invasion by the Remi, who have metal and swords, things that the people of June do not possess. It is then that Isa must rise up and do what she can to save her land, her people, and her family.
This fantasy novella is a wonderful tale of the spirit of a young girl, and what she endures to try and save her land from the Remi. The story is well-paced and kept me turning the pages. It is a novella series, and it leaves off with a nice cliffhanger for the next story. I loved the characters (except the ones I wasn’t supposed to), and I think there are some nice hints of things to come woven into the story. All in all, this is a great book for adults and teens and a fast-paced read that makes me want to read the next book.
