A few months ago, I wrote a blog post on how important it is to create characters that are convincing. It is probably one of the easiest and hardest things for writers to do. Easy, because all writers have non-existent people running around in their heads. Hard, because it’s difficult to tell others about those characters and make them feel real. Then, once you’ve translated the characters onto paper and finished the book, you have to make sure that your next set of characters are not cookie cutters of your last set.
My blog talks about everything from making characters real to naming them to giving them purpose. Have I ever broken any of these rules? Of course I have. All writers break them when they start out. But because I love to share the pains of my past with others in hopes of saving them from my mistakes, here is my full blog post about creating convincing characters . Enjoy!
